Nursing is a science and an art; therefore clinical skills are fundamental in nursing care. This manual outlines the steps to be followed for each procedure, assisting in the provision of standardized care as well as building competence and confidence in performing nursing procedures particularly student nurses, preceptors and nurses in service delivery. This manual enables nurses to provide an individually and sensitively planned care, using the nursing process as a basis for caring. It also defines competencies expected from an individual nurse in each procedure. The procedure manual helps in standardizing nursing care by nurses trained in different nursing institutions in the country thus ensuring public trust. It also helps educators and international nurses registered with the Swaziland Nursing Care who are employed in the country in using it as a teaching and learning and as a reference document.
The Swaziland Nursing Council has developed four procedure manuals namely General Nursing, Midwifery, Community Health nursing and Community Mental Health Nursing to be used by the nursing training institutions and nurses in service delivery
